“Give me a bite of the apple” says 11 year old Shina to her 8 year old sister Tina who is happily munching on the apple she got as the Independence Day celebration refreshment from the school authorities.
“No” says Tina
“Ok then I would not bring you here, to my school the next year” threatens Shina
Tina, whose own school is far away, who always prefers accompanying Shina to her school rather than going to her own on special days like these, fearing the consequences that Shina just mentioned, hands over the apple to her sister for her to take a bite, without blinking an eye. Shina recognises that look on Tina's face as fear , feels guilty, but takes the bite nevertheless
20 years later, Shina still isn't free of that guilt. She still cries every time she remembers that helpless look on Tina’s face.

Hmmmm...Shina must be among the 'hyper-sensitive souls' of this universe. i thought such angels no more exist beyond pages of a book. Thanks for proving me wrong. Angels do exist.
The untold story: Tina also thought of how lucky she was to have Shina as her sister, always the one to take care of her, stand up for her and be a guide whenever needed and she knew instantly that she would give the whole apple to her anytime.
And so, Tina gave the apple without even a blink only to have it back with one bite less!
Shina indeed is a "NOBLE" soul. Not many in life can look into themselves and find out what they feel they did wrong in life and try to correct it.
I personally believe in the following, which others may not agree to.. "Forgive everything in others but nothing in yourself. Coz if you do, you would never improve."
@m squared - Hyper-sensitive-soul? Ummmm.... naaaah, i dont think so. But you know there are somethings in life which never stop haunting you.
@Anand - :) You always make my day!
@I Walk Alone - Ummmm... how does one correct something gone incorrect 20 years ago, which in retrospect looks trivial to so many people??
You can always correct things... By first admitting that what you did was wrong (although may not be intentional) and then doing something good for the same person. Believe me not many get a chance to do even this in life.
Lol...you missed the humor paradox!
@m squared - ??
I keep telling you and you keep forgetting about my low levels of IQ
:P
remember the movie we wanted to direct! You now have a name for your own home production - Shina aur Tina :D
@ Zombie - :P
How about "Shina aur Tina bees saal bad"??
How about looking at things from the apple's perspective 'Ek apple ki pukaar'?
I am sure the apple would also want to have some say in who it wants to bitten by.
great stuff...best short tale I have read in a long time...I would hate to call it a story!!
