Logically...

Read this question in some fun test for logic.

Taking the below statements as a group, which statement is the true one?

  • The number of false statements here is one.
  • The number of false statements here is two.
  • The number of false statements here is three.
  • The number of false statements here is four.
Want to give it a try?

the third statement is true?

The number of false statements here is three.

Premise: one of the statements are true
There are four statements
Inference: One is true, so 4-1=3 of them are false.

The number of false statements here is one.

Let’s assume this is true. That means other three statements are wrong. This would mean this one is also false. Hence number of false statements are more than 1.

The number of false statements here is two.

Let’s assume this is true. This negates all the other three statements again, hence is also not true, so number of wrong statements are either more than 2 or less than 2.

The number of false statements here is three.

Let’s assume this is true. That means 1, 2 and 4 are wrong statements, which makes this true.

The number of false statements here is four.

Let’s assume this is true that would be a paradox as there are only 4 statements that would straight away make this wrong. That means number of false statements are not four.

So No. 3 statement is true.

Universal Pictures’ eye-catching campaign for Forgetting Sarah Marshall, the latest raunchy comedy from the Judd Apatow pack, features a series of plain white posters sporting bold declarative statements such as “My Mother Always Hated You Sarah Marshall,” "You Suck Sarah Marshall," and the lowest blow of all - "You Do Look Fat in Those Jeans, Sarah Marshall." And, as the folks at Universal counted on when dreaming up the marketing scheme, it makes those who’ve never heard of Forgetting Sarah Marshall wonder who is this woman and why does someone hate her enough to take out major ads declaring their feelings
